BREAKING NEWS: Fatal Crash Claims Woman’s Life on Kampala–Jinja Highway

national

A tragic accident early this morning along the busy Kampala–Jinja Highway has left one woman dead, sparking renewed concerns about reckless driving and road safety.

According to police reports, the crash occurred at Lands Junction in Mukono Municipality at around 9:00 a.m., when a semi-trailer registration SSD 842Z/SSD 336Z, driven by Ibrahim Abdullahi, a 45-year-old Somali national, collided with a motorcycle that had abruptly overtaken from the left side and suddenly stopped.

The motorcycle passenger, identified as Namulondo Mary, aged 43, was thrown off the bike and tragically crushed under the trailer’s rear tyre. She died instantly at the scene.

Eyewitnesses say the motorcyclist, believed to have caused the accident through reckless overtaking, fled immediately after the collision. His whereabouts—and those of the motorcycle—remain unknown.

Police have impounded the truck and transferred the deceased’s body to Kawolo Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The driver is currently assisting authorities with investigations as a manhunt for the fleeing rider intensifies.

Traffic police have once again warned road users—particularly motorcyclists—to observe all traffic rules and avoid dangerous maneuvers that continue to cost innocent lives.

Authorities are urging the public to report reckless road behavior and cooperate with enforcement agencies as efforts to curb road carnage continue.
