ZOMBO: Two Passengers Missing After Taxi Plunges Into River Nyagak
Two passengers are still missing after a commuter taxi traveling from Masindi District to Alangi Market in Zombo District plunged into River Nyagak on Monday afternoon.
According to first responders at the scene, eight people had been rescued by close of Monday, 23rd February 2026, following the crash, while two others remain unaccounted for.
Taxi Fails to Negotiate Sharp Corner
The taxi, which operates along the Masindi–Zombo route, reportedly failed to negotiate a sharp corner near the River Nyagak bridge before veering off the road and plunging into the water.


Survivors Admitted to Nyapea Hospital
The eight survivors were rushed to Nyapea Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with police and medical teams working together to locate the two missing passengers in River Nyagak.
Authorities had not yet issued an official statement by the time of publication.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about road safety along major transport routes connecting Masindi and Zombo districts, particularly at sharp corners and bridge crossings.
