Four children killed in nursery school stabbing attack in Uganda, Watch Full Story

KAMPALA, UGANDA — A tragic stabbing attack at a nursery school in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, has left four children dead, police confirmed on Thursday.

According to the Uganda Police Force, the incident occurred at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program school in Makindye Division, where a male suspect attacked several children using a sharp object.

“We confirm a tragic incident where a male suspect brutally stabbed and killed four juveniles,” police said in a statement shared on X.

Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala told local media that the victims included one girl and three boys. The suspect, identified as a 34-year-old man, allegedly gained access to the school by posing as a parent.

Local reports indicate that the attacker initially entered the school offices and briefly interacted with administrators before stepping outside, locking the gate, and launching the attack on the children.

Eyewitnesses say the suspect targeted multiple children in quick succession, causing panic within the school premises.

The situation was brought under control when a security guard from a nearby church intervened and helped stop the attacker. Police later confirmed that the suspect was apprehended at the scene.

Authorities stated that the motive behind the attack remains unclear and is currently under investigation.

Video footage broadcast by NTV Uganda showed distraught parents gathering at the school, some in tears following the devastating incident. Police fired warning shots to disperse an angry crowd that had assembled, with some attempting to attack the suspect.

Such violent attacks are rare in Kampala, a city of approximately three million people, making the incident particularly shocking to residents.

Security agencies have since launched a full investigation as the community mourns the loss of the young victims.
