JUST IN: Gombe Town Council Clerk Remanded over Job Giveaways

The Town Clerk Gombe Town Council, Butambala District has today, Thursday, 24th July, 2025 been arraigned before the Butambala Chief Magistrates Court on charges of Forgery.

 

Idris Walugembe did not waste Court’s time and pleaded guilty to the charges. He was subsequently remanded until 6th August, 2025 when he will re-appear before court for sentencing.

 

According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that carried out the investigations, Walugembe while acting as Secretary District Service Commission Butambala, in 2022, along with others still at large, altered official job application records of the service commission and smuggled in an applicant for the position of Inspector of Schools, a one Abbas Musoke, who was not eligible for shortlisting.

 

Walugembe was subsequently suspended from his duties as Secretary, District Service Commission for sabotaging the activities of the previous District Service Commission including leaking official Minutes of the DSC on social media.
