Police in the Kampala Metropolitan Area have arrested seven suspects believed to be behind a recent surge in motorcycle robberies across Lungujja, Kosovo, Mutundwe, and along Nakawuka Road.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the arrests followed a disruptive operation conducted by police in Nateete on December 11, 2025. The operation led to the recovery of two stolen motorcycles, registration numbers **UEW 612H** and **UMA 471AG**, along with other exhibits allegedly used in the attacks.

The suspects have been identified as **Mwesigwa Denis, Washington Erias, Niwugu Samuel, Nasasira Derick, Medy, Mbabali, and Nsereko Sam**.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects posed as customers before attacking and robbing motorcycle riders of their bikes. They are currently being held at **Lungujja** and **Wakaliga Police Stations** as investigations continue. Police have opened a case of **aggravated robbery** against the suspects.

In a related development, police at **Central Police Station (CPS)** are also holding **Mugabi Hakim**, commonly known as *“Younger,”* a notorious pickpocket operating along **Luwum Street**. He was arrested during a separate disruptive operation carried out in the **Mutasa Kafeero area** on December 12, 2025, at around midday.

Police say operations targeting criminal activity within Kampala Metropolitan areas will continue as part of efforts to curb rising urban crime.
