**KAMPALA** – Issa Sekito, the acting Chairman of the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), has been arrested by officers from Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) on charges of inciting violence and assaulting police officers on duty.

Sekito, along with other individuals, was detained on Thursday, November 6, 2025, to assist in ongoing investigations. According to Deputy Police Spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan area, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspects are accused of inciting violence and physically assaulting police officers who were carrying out their lawful duties.

“The case file has been forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for further review and legal guidance,” ASP Owoyesigyire confirmed.

In light of the incident, the police are calling on the public to remain calm and refrain from actions that could escalate tensions or jeopardize the safety of others, especially business owners who have resumed normal operations in the city centre.

“We urge the public to avoid engaging in activities that may cause unrest,” said Owoyesigyire, adding that police will maintain a visible presence throughout the city to prevent illegal actions and ensure the safety of all residents and visitors.

This arrest comes amid growing tensions in the capital, as authorities seek to maintain law and order in the wake of the alleged altercation.
