Kampala Police Recover Stolen Arua Motorcycle in Intelligence-Led Operation in Wakiso District

Kampala Metropolitan Police have recovered a motorcycle that was reportedly robbed from Arua District following an intelligence-led operation conducted in Wakiso District.

According to a statement issued by ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the operation was carried out on Monday, 2nd March 2026, in Kigwanya Cell, Nabbingo Parish, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.

Suspect Linked to Arua Motorcycle Robbery

Police revealed that they had received actionable intelligence linking a suspect to the robbery of a motorcycle in Arua District.

The prime suspect, identified as Kabogoza Kefa alias Kivumbi, a 22-year-old mechanic and resident of Kigwanya Cell, is accused of robbing a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFU 119N, on 27th February 2026 at approximately 1:00 PM. The motorcycle was reportedly stolen from an unidentified victim believed to be a resident of Saziro Village in Arua District.

Investigations indicate that after the robbery, the suspect transported the motorcycle to Nsangi in Wakiso District.

Stolen Motorcycle Recovered from Nsangi Garage

Further intelligence revealed that on 1st March 2026 at around 7:00 PM, the suspect allegedly delivered the stolen motorcycle to a garage identified as “Younger’s Garage” in Buwali Village near Emma Oil Petrol Station in Nsangi. The intention, police say, was to alter the engine and registration details to conceal the motorcycle’s identity before resale.

A team of officers from Nabbingo Police Station proceeded to the garage, where they recovered several exhibits, including:

  • Motorcycle Registration Number UFU 119N (Red Bajaj Boxer)
  • Motorcycle Registration Number UMA 399DF (Blue Spiro)
  • Registration number plate UEU 629L
  • One motorcycle exhaust pipe
  • One motorcycle seat cushion

Police Suspect Organised Motorcycle Theft Racket

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire stated that the recovery of additional motorcycle parts and another motorcycle suggests the existence of an organised racket involved in dismantling and altering stolen motorcycles for resale.

Police arrested three suspects in connection with the case:

  • Kabogoza Kefa alias Kivumbi – Prime suspect
  • Bbagala Shafik alias Younger – Proprietor of the garage
  • Aryatuha Samson – Parking attendant where the exhibits were kept

Authorities have recorded statements from witnesses and suspects, taken photographs of the scene and recovered exhibits, and secured the items pending forensic examination.

Partial interviews have already been conducted, and investigations are ongoing to identify other possible accomplices, trace the rightful owners of the recovered motorcycles, and ensure appropriate charges are brought before the courts of law.

Police have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying operations against motorcycle theft in Kampala and surrounding districts.
