**KANUNGU: Woman Arrested for Stealing Neighbor’s Coffee with Help of Sniffer Dog**
In a dramatic turn of events, a woman in Kanungu District has been arrested for allegedly stealing raw coffee from her neighbor’s garden, thanks to the quick and precise work of a police sniffer dog.
The incident occurred on the night of November 13, 2025, when Nizamukunda Noziatah reportedly trespassed into the coffee garden of Tindimuwa Mathias, a resident of Nganga Village in Nyanga Parish, Nyanga Sub County. The stolen coffee was later traced back to Noziatah’s home after a determined search led by Clara, a highly trained police dog.
According to the police, the theft was reported soon after it occurred, prompting immediate action. Officers from the local Canine Unit, alongside a team of investigators, arrived at the scene, where they found the crime scene well-preserved. With the help of Clara, the sniffer dog, authorities were able to track the suspect’s scent for around 200 meters, eventually leading them to her residence. Upon arriving at Noziatah’s home, officers discovered the stolen coffee, which was seized as evidence.
“The suspect stole coffee from the garden of the aforementioned victim on the night of November 13, 2025,” the police statement confirmed.
Noziatah is now in police custody, awaiting charges and a scheduled appearance in court. Authorities have praised the efforts of the K9 unit, highlighting the crucial role the dog played in solving the crime.
“We urge the public to always preserve crime scenes to ensure the effectiveness of K9 units in solving cases,” the police statement added, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the community and law enforcement in bringing criminals to justice.
