Top Story: Musician Weasel Hospitalised After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident Involving Wife Sandra Tete
Kampala, Uganda – August 7, 2025
Popular Ugandan musician Douglas Mayanja, widely known as Weasel, has been hospitalised at Nsambya Hospital after allegedly being run over multiple times by his wife, Sandra Tete, following a domestic altercation.
The shocking incident reportedly occurred at Chan’s Bar in Munyonyo, Makindye Division, where eyewitnesses told Kabalagala Police that Tete struck Weasel with a vehicle three times, resulting in serious injuries, including multiple fractures in one of his legs.
Police have since arrested Tete, who is currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station. According to preliminary statements obtained by detectives, Tete claimed the altercation began earlier in the day when Weasel allegedly assaulted her and forced her and their children out of their home.
Seeking intervention, Tete reportedly approached her in-laws, but was advised to return and settle matters with her husband. However, upon her return, the situation escalated. She alleges that Weasel continued to abuse her before leaving for the bar, prompting her to follow him.
“When I returned, Weasel continued abusing and assaulting me. He then drove to the bar, and I followed him there. We quarrelled again, and I later entered the vehicle and knocked him down,” Tete reportedly told investigators.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed Tete’s arrest and Weasel’s hospitalisation, noting that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Weasel, a member of the once-renowned music duo Radio and Weasel, and younger brother to celebrated artist Joseph Mayanja (Dr. Jose Chameleone), has had a tumultuous relationship with Tete. The couple has previously been involved in several domestic disputes, often resolved through family intervention.
Police have yet to confirm the charges Tete may face as they continue gathering evidence and witness accounts.
