Museveni Charges New ISO Recruits to Embrace Patriotism, Pan‑Africanism

In a high‑stakes ceremony today, President Yoweri Museveni urged the newly inducted ISO (Internal Security Organisation) recruits to internalize and champion the tenets of patriotism and Pan‑Africanism, citing them as essential for Uganda’s unity and future prosperity.

Addressing the cohort, Museveni called on them to reject narrow identity politics and instead serve the nation above ethnic or regional loyalties. He framed patriotism not as sentimental rhetoric, but as a strategic necessity for national cohesion and development.

The President also invoked Pan‑Africanism, emphasizing that Uganda’s growth and security are tied to its bond with the rest of the continent. For Museveni, Uganda cannot flourish in isolation; regional integration and continental cooperation are central to achieving economic and political goals.

Beyond ideological exhortation, Museveni reminded the ISO recruits of their duty: to safeguard national interests, uphold state security, and act as custodians of the country’s values. He encouraged them to become ambassadors of unity and defenders of Uganda’s sovereignty both at home and in the broader African context.

In closing, the President tasked the new recruits with a dual mission — to protect the nation and to champion the vision of a united, prosperous Uganda rooted in solid principles.
