Kampala: Police Take Prime Suspect in Pamela Tumwebaze Murder to Crime Scene
KAMPALA, Uganda – February 18, 2026 — Police in Mukono District have taken the prime suspect in the murder of Pamela Tumwebaze, the Director of Students Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), to the scene of crime as investigations intensify.
The suspect, identified as Hussein Dak Taewaiko, was on Wednesday escorted to the deceased’s home in Gwafu Village, Goma Division, Mukono District, for a locus visit aimed at reconstructing the events surrounding the killing.
Locus Visit Conducted in Gwafu Village
According to police sources, Taewaiko was taken to the residence where Tumwebaze was murdered last week. The reconstruction exercise, commonly referred to as a locus visit, is intended to help investigators verify statements, gather further evidence, and establish the sequence of events leading to her death.
Residents of Gwafu Village gathered at a distance as heavily guarded officers conducted the procedure.
Suspect Previously Worked at the Home
Police confirmed that the suspect had previously worked at the residence as a house help. Authorities allege that he was arrested on February 14, 2026, in Budaka District.
At the time of arrest, investigators claim he was found in possession of property believed to belong to the deceased, a development that strengthened suspicions against him.
Murder of UCU Director Shocks Community
The killing of Pamela Tumwebaze has sent shockwaves through the UCU community and the wider Mukono District. Students, staff, and local leaders have expressed grief and demanded swift justice.
Tumwebaze was widely regarded as a dedicated administrator who played a key role in student affairs at Uganda Christian University.
