**Breaking News: Ex-Convict Arrested for Cattle Theft in Tororo After Intensive Tracking Operation**

An ex-convict has been apprehended in Tororo district on suspicion of cattle theft in Kisoko Sub-county, following a thorough tracking operation involving a sniffer dog and local intelligence.

The theft was discovered early on November 15, 2025, when a local farmer reported that two of his cattle had been stolen from his farm. The victim quickly alerted Kisoko Police Station, where Officer in Charge (OC) initiated a formal investigation.

Led by Inspector Mutibwa Moses, the police response team deployed a sniffer dog from the Central Police Station (CPS) in Tororo. According to police spokesperson Moses Mugwe, the operation was rigorous. The dog expertly navigated dense bush and crossed a swamp, eventually leading the team to the semi-permanent home of the suspect, Opella Murunga, about a kilometer away.

When police arrived at the residence, Murunga was not at home. However, through collaboration with local community members, they learned that Murunga had been seen selling meat at a nearby funeral gathering. Officers swiftly responded and arrested him, where funeral attendees confirmed his identity and noted his criminal history as an ex-convict recently released on bail for similar charges.

Statements from the K9 handler and witnesses have been recorded and added to the police file, strengthening the case against Murunga.

This operation highlights the effective collaboration between law enforcement and local intelligence networks, underscoring the ongoing efforts to tackle crime in the region.
