**U.S. Vice President JD Vance’s Planned Visit to Kenya Canceled Amid Government Shutdown**
The scheduled trip of U.S. Vice President JD Vance to Kenya has been officially canceled due to the ongoing government shutdown in the United States.
The cancellation was confirmed by Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, who issued a statement explaining that the decision followed direct orders from President Donald Trump. The President directed that no U.S. officials, including Vance, would attend the upcoming G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, which was set to be the basis for the Vice President’s visit to Kenya.
Mudavadi’s statement noted: *”The Government of the Republic of Kenya, through the office of H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, E.G.H., Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, has been informed by the Government of the United States of America of the cancellation of the planned visit to Kenya by Vice President JD Vance, which was scheduled to take place later this month.”*
This unexpected turn of events comes as the U.S. grapples with the ramifications of a government shutdown, impacting several diplomatic engagements. Vance’s visit to Kenya, which had been expected to coincide with his participation in the G20 summit, will now no longer be possible.
