UEGCL Prepares to Switch On Nyagak III Hydropower Facility

Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited is now ready to officially switch on the 6.6 MW Nyagak III Hydropower Plant.

 

This is revealed in a press statement issued today, Tuesday, 29th July, 2025 by UEGCL and posted on X.

 

According to the brief statement, the 6.6 MW Nyagak III Hydropower Plant will be switched on this Friday, 1st August, 2025 ushering in a new era of clean, reliable electricity supply to West Nile region.

 

The official commissioning will take place at Zombo on Friday at 10:00AM.

 

The 6.6 MW Nyagak III Hydropower Plant is run- of- River hydroelectric plant with two 3.3 MW Horizontal Francis turbines, expected to generate approximately 36.27 GWh per year.
