BREAKING MUBENDE: NUP MP Flagbearer Remanded Over Forged Nomination Receipt

Mubende, Uganda — October 24, 2025:
The Mubende Magistrate’s Court has remanded Peter Kyagera, the National Unity Platform (NUP) flagbearer for Kasambya Constituency, to Kaweeri Prison until November 13, 2025.

Kyagera faces two criminal chargesforgery under Section 319 and uttering false documents under Sections 324 and 328 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128.

Appearing before Acting Chief Magistrate Paul Kedi, Kyagera denied all charges.

He was arrested on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Electoral Commission offices in Mubende after allegedly presenting a forged Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) receipt showing payment of Shs 3 million for his nomination.

According to Wamala Region Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the suspect — Kyagera Peter, 36, a resident of Bubanda village, Mubende District — submitted a general payment receipt that, upon verification, was found to have been previously used by another person.

“The forged document was immediately flagged by EC staff, leading to his arrest. The receipt has been recovered and attached as evidence,” SP Kawala confirmed.

Kyagera remains in custody as investigations continue ahead of his next court appearance.
