A tragic accident in Mityana District has left two pupils dead and eleven others injured after a school bus they were traveling in overturned on the Mityana–Mubende Road, officials confirmed on Monday.
The incident, now registered under case file NV_215755, occurred on Sunday evening as students from Bright Future Primary School were returning from a co-curricular activity.
What Happened?
Preliminary reports from the Uganda Police Traffic Department indicate that the driver may have lost control on a sharp bend due to speeding and poor weather conditions, causing the bus to veer off the road and overturn.
Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene, with locals rushing to rescue children trapped under the wreckage before emergency responders arrived.
“It was chaos. We pulled out as many children as we could before the ambulance came,” said Peter Kasule, a resident near the crash site.
