Senior Police Officer Remanded Over Assault, Property Damage

KAMPALA — Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima has been charged with assault and malicious damage to property after allegedly attacking a petrol station attendant and destroying her smartphone. The incident, which occurred in Kyanja last week, was caught on camera and has since drawn public attention.

Nsiima appeared before the City Hall Magistrates Court on Monday, 13th October 2025. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and applied for bail. The court is expected to rule on the bail application on 16th October 2025.

Prosecution alleges that Nsiima assaulted Pellan Atuhumuriize and damaged her phone during an altercation over a bill. His lawyer informed the court that both parties have since entered into a reconciliation agreement.

Despite this, the court remanded the officer until the next hearing on October 16.
