**BREAKING: Police Arrest Nine South Sudanese Nationals in Nabweru Over Suspected Murder of Housemaid**
Police in Wakiso District have arrested **nine South Sudanese nationals** in Nabweru in connection with the **suspected murder of a housemaid**, as investigations intensify into the disappearance of the victim’s body.
The unidentified maid is believed to have been killed on **Friday night** inside a residence in **Nabweru South Cell One, Nansana Municipality**. Her body has not yet been recovered, raising suspicions that it may have been secretly removed from the premises.
According to area defence secretary **Davis Ssekatawa**, the incident came to light after a village clinical officer was called to the home to attend to the maid. Upon examination, the officer reportedly found the girl with **severe head injuries** and confirmed that she was already dead.
Ssekatawa said that when he and the area chairperson responded to the scene, the occupants of the house refused to open the door despite repeated identification.
“Police were also denied access to the house, so we spent the night guarding it,” Ssekatawa said. “This morning, we forced entry with the police and searched the premises, but the body was missing. However, bloodstains were visible in the compound, suggesting that someone died there.”
Neighbour **Justus Nuwagaba**, whose wife is the nurse called to administer first aid, said the occupants claimed the maid had injured herself.
“When my wife arrived, she found the girl with a deep head wound and already dead,” Nuwagaba said, adding that the occupants allegedly panicked and attempted to offer her money to keep quiet, which she refused.
Local councillor **Easter Najuma** said some occupants were seen leaving the house before police arrived, carrying large briefcases and polythene bags, which residents suspect may have been used to remove the body.
Residents are now demanding a thorough investigation to locate the maid’s remains, establish her identity, and ensure accountability.
Police have since arrested **nine South Sudanese nationals** found inside the residence. They are currently detained at **Nabweru Police Station** as investigations continue and efforts to trace the missing body intensify.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson **SP Rachael Kawala** said she had not yet been fully briefed on the case by press time but would provide an update once more details are available.
