Two Next Media Journalists Killed in Entebbe Road Crash as Brian Makona Fights for Life in ICU

Producer Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndagigye Die in Tragic Namulanda Accident

Uganda’s media industry is in mourning following the tragic deaths of two Next Media employees, Producer Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndagigye, who were killed in a devastating road accident along Entebbe Road in the early hours of Friday.

The fatal crash occurred at Namulanda, near the Stabex fuel station, as the journalists were returning from covering a celebrity boxing event featuring social media personalities Chicken Chicken and Shawa.

Brian Makona Hospitalized in Intensive Care

Entertainment journalist Brian “Makona” Ssemanda, who was traveling with the deceased, survived the crash but sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to Kisubi Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to reports, medical examinations revealed that Makona suffered a broken nose and other injuries. Fortunately, doctors reportedly found no major head trauma, although he remains under close medical observation.

How the Deadly Crash Happened

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the accident happened at around 2:00 a.m. and involved a Toyota Allex (registration UA 779DE) carrying the journalists and a Toyota Hilux (registration UAS 976W) traveling from Entebbe towards Kampala.

Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura said initial findings suggest the driver of the Toyota Hilux allegedly lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with the journalists’ vehicle.

Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndagigye died at the scene, while Brian Makona was rescued and rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. Police say investigations into the exact cause of the crash are ongoing.

Next Media Confirms the Tragedy

In an official statement, Next Media Services confirmed the heartbreaking news and extended condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

The media company also confirmed that Brian Makona remains in intensive care and pledged to provide updates on his condition as they become available while requesting privacy for the affected families during this difficult period.
