NUP Faces Fresh Uncertainty as Reports Emerge That Lina Zedriga Has Left Uganda
The National Unity Platform (NUP) is facing renewed uncertainty following reports that its former acting president, Dr Lina Zedriga, has left Uganda and could remain outside the country.
According to sources, Zedriga, who serves as the NUP deputy president for Northern Uganda, reportedly travelled through Kenya and is exploring possible options for her future, including claims that she could seek asylum in Europe or Canada.
However, the reports about her departure and alleged fears of arrest have not been independently verified. The NUP has also not publicly confirmed the claims.
Lina Zedriga Reportedly Leaves Uganda
Zedriga’s reported departure comes at a time when the opposition party is already dealing with the absence of some of its senior leaders.
The former magistrate and human rights advocate previously served as acting NUP president while party leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, was outside Uganda.
She was later replaced after John Baptist Nambeshe was appointed to take over the acting leadership role.

Zedriga’s reported exit comes months after Bobi Wine also left Uganda amid concerns about his safety.
