Peace Mbabazi Sparks Debate After High-Energy Performance at Ray G’s Concert

Mbarara-based gospel singer Peace Mbabazi Kyamukongwire has faced criticism on social media following a high-energy performance at Ray G’s concert held at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.

Mbabazi became a talking point among concert-goers after performing an energetic dance move that involved raising one leg high while wearing a short blue denim dress.

During the move, the dress lifted, briefly exposing her inner thighs and the black biker shorts she was wearing underneath.

The incident quickly attracted attention online, with some social media users questioning whether the performance was appropriate for a gospel artist.

Critics argued that Mbabazi, as a gospel singer, should maintain a level of modesty and conduct consistent with Christian values while performing on stage.

Bishop Advises Peace Mbabazi to Be More Careful

Bishop Nassan Ibrahim, head pastor of Day Star Cathedral in Mbarara, weighed in on the controversy, urging the singer to exercise greater caution during public performances.

Ibrahim said nobody was against Mbabazi personally but emphasized that gospel ministry comes with responsibilities and expectations.

He compared her position to carrying a glass of water that could easily spill if handled carelessly, warning that excitement on stage could sometimes lead performers beyond the boundaries they intended to maintain.

The bishop also reminded Mbabazi that she is a wife and mother and advised her to consider wearing longer outfits during performances to avoid similar incidents.

He acknowledged that people make mistakes but stressed the importance of learning from them and protecting the image of gospel ministry.

Peace Mbabazi Responds to the Controversy

Despite the criticism, Mbabazi appears to have taken the incident lightly rather than allowing the backlash to affect her.

The gospel singer recently joked about the controversial performance while appearing at an event with her husband, Jackson Ashaba.

She asked her husband what he thought when he saw her raise her leg during the performance and jokingly asked whether he still loved her.

Ashaba responded with laughter and defended his wife, saying the public should not be overly concerned about the moment.

He told her to continue doing her thing, effectively dismissing the criticism surrounding the performance.

The incident has sparked a wider discussion about stage performance, dress codes and expectations for gospel musicians in Uganda.
