Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly returned to the general prison population after spending time in disciplinary segregation following an alleged altercation with another inmate.

The 56-year-old rapper was reportedly placed in solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey after an alleged prison fight in late July. According to reports, he has since been released from segregation and returned to the facility’s general population.

The development was reported on August 12, 2026, citing information from sources familiar with the situation.

Diddy Reportedly Released From Solitary Confinement

Combs was allegedly placed in disciplinary segregation following an altercation with another inmate.

The reported incident began with a confrontation that escalated from shoving to punches before prison staff intervened and separated the inmates.

Sources previously claimed that Combs “held his own” during the altercation, although officials have not publicly confirmed details about what happened inside the facility.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) has declined to discuss Combs’ specific housing assignment or whether he was the subject of disciplinary proceedings.

“For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not release information regarding the conditions of confinement for any inmate,” the agency said, according to reports.

What Happened During the Alleged Prison Fight?

Reports indicate that the confrontation happened in late July and was quickly brought under control by prison personnel.

Following the incident, Combs was reportedly moved to disciplinary segregation, commonly referred to as solitary confinement or “the hole.”

Inmates placed in disciplinary segregation can face restrictions on privileges and personal property, although they continue to receive basic necessities.

Authorities have not publicly released detailed information about the alleged confrontation or confirmed whether any additional disciplinary sanctions were imposed on Combs.

Diddy’s Prison Release Date Moved Forward

Despite reports of the alleged prison altercation, Combs’ projected release date has reportedly been moved forward.

His release date was previously listed as February 23, 2028, but it has reportedly been changed to January 24, 2028.

The rapper was initially expected to remain incarcerated until June 2028 before his projected release date was subsequently revised.

The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly explained the reasons behind the changes to his projected release date.

Combs has been incarcerated since his arrest in September 2024 following a federal investigation.

In July 2025, he was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. However, he was acquitted of more serious charges involving racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

In October 2025, Combs was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison, fined $500,000 and ordered to serve five years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.
