King Saha alleges Kapere was killed, pledges to complete comedian’s house

Singer King Saha has alleged that comedian Yokana Mbuuse, popularly known as Kapere Lufotose, was killed, casting doubt on the circumstances surrounding his death without providing evidence to support the claim.

Speaking on Monday evening at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Makerere-Kavule, where mourners had gathered to pay their last respects to the comedian, Saha claimed Kapere had been trying to tell his wife, Lydia Nakandi, popularly known as Mama Trump, something important before his death.

“According to me, Kapere did not die a natural death. They killed him. When he was on his sickbed, he wanted to tell his wife, Mama Trump, something, but unfortunately, God called him before he could say it. They killed Kapere, and I am the one saying it. I live in Nakawuka,” Saha said.

However, the singer did not explain what Kapere allegedly wanted to tell his wife, identify anyone he suspected of involvement or present evidence to support his claim.

His remarks come amid continued questions about the circumstances surrounding Kapere’s sudden death, which occurred after he collapsed during a school visitation event.

Beyond the allegation, Saha also made a pledge to support the comedian’s family by completing his unfinished house.

The house was one of Kapere’s personal projects before his death, but he did not live to see it completed.

Saha said he was prepared to take responsibility for ensuring that the construction work is finished. He had previously spoken about organising a concert in Kapere’s honour, with the proceeds intended to go towards completing the house.

The latest pledge appears to reinforce that commitment, although details of how the work will be funded and when construction will resume were not provided.

Saha’s comments came as entertainers, friends and other mourners gathered at the NUP headquarters to remember Kapere, whose comedy made him a familiar face in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
