BREAKING: 13-Year-Old TikTok User Arrested in Lyantonde Over Alleged Incitement and Sectarian Posts

LYANTONDE, Uganda — Police in Lyantonde District have arrested a 13-year-old boy over allegations of inciting violence and promoting sectarianism through videos shared on the social media platform TikTok.

The suspect, identified as Twikirize Clever, popularly known online as “Mad Hunter,” was arrested following what police described as an intelligence-led operation.

Authorities say the teenager is currently in custody as investigations continue.

Police Arrest Teen Over TikTok Content

According to Greater Masaka Regional Police spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, investigators tracked down the suspect after receiving intelligence about videos allegedly containing offensive and inflammatory content.

Police said the videos, which were posted on TikTok, allegedly included vulgar language and messages capable of inciting violence and promoting sectarianism.

Kasirye noted that the nature of the content was particularly concerning given the suspect’s age.

Suspect Arrested in Lyantonde

Police said Twikirize, a resident of Kooki D Cell in Lyantonde District, was traced to a hideout in Kooki C Cell, where he was arrested.

He remains in police custody while detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.

Authorities have not yet disclosed when the videos were recorded or uploaded, nor have they confirmed whether formal charges have been filed against the teenager.

Police Warn Against Misuse of Social Media

The arrest comes as security agencies continue to monitor online platforms for content they believe may promote violence, hate speech or sectarianism.

Police have repeatedly urged social media users to use digital platforms responsibly and to avoid publishing content that could violate Uganda’s laws.

Authorities also continue to caution parents and guardians to supervise children’s online activities and educate them on responsible use of social media.

Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case, including the origin of the videos and whether others may have been involved in creating or sharing the content.
