The incident unfolded yesterday 1st August,2025 when 23-year-old Briana Ssettwalo allegedly stole a Toyota Fielder, registration number UA541AA, from Kakiri in Wakiso District.

Police, using advanced digital tracking systems, tracked Ssettwalo as he sped towards Nagongera Town Council.

As law enforcement closed in, Ssettwalo attempted to evade capture by accelerating towards Tororo Town.

In a shocking turn of events, he lost control of the vehicle, crashing into Charles Oketcho, a boda boda rider from Kisoko Sub-county, along with two of his passengers and a pedestrian who was walking nearby.

The collision left four individuals injured, as they were taken to Tororo General Hospital for treatment.

Ssettwalo abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled on foot. However, swift action by local boda boda riders and police led to his capture shortly thereafter where he was found hiding in a latrine.

The suspect is Currently detained at Tororo Central Police Station, and the stolen vehicle has since been recovered and impounded at the station.

Moses Mugwe, the police spokesperson for the Bukedi South Region, took the opportunity to encourage community vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement. “We urge the public to remain alert and assist us in ensuring that justice prevails,” he said.

Authorities are appealing for anyone with information about Ssettwalo or the incident to come forward, hoping to shed further light on this troubling case.
