Masaka, Uganda – Jubilant scenes unfolded in Kyanamukaka Sub-county on Saturday as hundreds of supporters, local leaders, and religious figures gathered to celebrate Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo’s election to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC) as the party’s Vice Chairperson for Central Region.

The thanksgiving event, held in Kasolo’s home area, took on a festive tone with lively music, traditional dances, and speeches from key NRM dignitaries. The gathering drew a broad cross-section of the region’s leadership, including Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) from Greater Masaka, NRM flag bearers, and clergy from various denominations—highlighting Kasolo’s far-reaching political and community influence.

Kasolo, who also serves as State Minister for Microfinance, dedicated his CEC victory to the people of Masaka and the wider Buganda region, emphasizing that it was a shared success.

“This result belongs to you,” Kasolo told the cheering crowd. “What we are celebrating here today is our unity.”

Local NRM leaders praised his grassroots connections and long-standing commitment to bridging national leadership with community concerns. One flag bearer called the victory “a clear sign of his hard work,” noting that Kasolo “has never forgotten us, and today we celebrate one of our own.”

Looking ahead to the 2026 general elections, Kasolo pledged to leverage his new role on the CEC to strengthen NRM structures in Buganda, support party candidates, and ensure the ruling party stays responsive to the needs of ordinary Ugandans.

“We are not stopping here,” he said. “Our work continues—to organize, to unify, and to deliver.”
