BREAKING: NUP Candidate Alleges Shs300m Bribe Offer to Quit Kamwenge Woman MP Race Ahead of Uganda Elections 2026
A National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate contesting for the Kamwenge Woman Member of Parliament seat has alleged that she was offered a Shs300 million bribe to withdraw from the race as political activity heats up ahead of the Uganda Elections 2026.
Speaking to the media, the NUP aspirant claimed that unidentified individuals approached her with the alleged bribe, urging her to step aside in favor of another contender in the 2026 parliamentary elections. She said she rejected the offer, describing it as an attempt to undermine democracy and interfere with the electoral process in Uganda.
The candidate emphasized that she remains committed to contesting in the Kamwenge Woman MP race, despite what she described as intimidation and political manipulation. She called on the Electoral Commission, security agencies, and relevant authorities to investigate the allegations.
The claims emerge as political parties intensify mobilization across the country ahead of the Uganda general elections 2026, with the National Unity Platform and other parties preparing candidates for parliamentary and local government positions.
By press time, no official response had been issued by the individuals or groups implicated in the alleged bribe. Police and the Electoral Commission had not yet commented on whether investigations into the matter had commenced.
This is a developing story and Nile Post will continue to provide updates on the Uganda Elections 2026, NUP news, and the Kamwenge Woman MP race.
