Frank Gashumba Urges Baganda to Support King Saha Ahead of Kololo Concert
Social media personality and critic Frank Gashumba has called on Baganda to rally behind musician King Saha ahead of his highly anticipated concert at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala this Friday.
Gashumba urged Baganda to show the same level of support for their homegrown artistes that he says Western Ugandans demonstrated during musician Ray G’s recent concert, where fans turned up in large numbers to support one of their own.
Speaking ahead of King Saha’s show, Gashumba said supporting local talent should go beyond social media posts and verbal encouragement, urging fans to demonstrate their appreciation by attending concerts.
“I am going to support King Saha. It is my responsibility to support him and I will show up this Friday. Baganda should learn to appreciate their own just like Westerners did. I will go along with Malaika,” he said.
Gashumba also said he intends to lead by example by attending the concert with his wife, Malaika, as he encouraged other Baganda to turn up for the event.
Gashumba Calls for Support for Local Artistes
The remarks come as anticipation builds ahead of King Saha’s concert at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, which is expected to attract music lovers from Kampala and other parts of Uganda.
Gashumba argued that the growth of Uganda’s entertainment industry depends partly on fans actively supporting artistes from their communities.
According to the social media personality, regional pride can play an important role in giving local musicians the audience and platform they need to grow their careers.
His call has sparked renewed discussion about the importance of supporting Ugandan musicians and whether fans consistently turn out in large numbers for artistes from their own regions.
