TikToker Benitah Nakabugo arrives in Uganda

TikToker Benitah Nakabugo Returns to Uganda After Losing Bahrain Job Amid Political Dispute

Ugandan TikToker Benitah Nakabugo has returned home after losing her job in Bahrain following an online controversy surrounding comments she reportedly made about Uganda’s political affairs.

Nakabugo, popularly known on social media as Benitah256MadamViolence, arrived in Uganda and was welcomed at Entebbe International Airport by Presidential Assistant on Service Delivery Kissakyamukama Yiga.

Her return has attracted attention amid an ongoing public debate about social media campaigns, political commentary and the consequences Ugandans working abroad can face because of their online activities.

Benitah Says Online Campaign Cost Her Job

Nakabugo said she lost her job at The Matcha Space in Bahrain after Ugandan social media users allegedly contacted her employer over comments she had made about Uganda’s political situation.

According to Nakabugo, the online campaign was connected to remarks she made concerning the 2026 presidential election.

She accused supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) of pressuring her employer following her political comments.

However, her former employer has reportedly not publicly explained the circumstances surrounding the end of her employment.

The allegations have therefore remained part of the wider public debate, with different accounts circulating online.

Nakabugo Returns Home

Following the loss of her job, Nakabugo returned to Uganda, where she received a welcome at Entebbe International Airport.

Her arrival comes after her situation generated considerable discussion on social media, particularly among Ugandans who followed reports about her difficulties in Bahrain.

The incident has also sparked conversations about whether online campaigns should be used to pressure employers over the political views or social media activities of Ugandans working abroad.

Justine Nameere Offers Support

Nakabugo’s situation also drew the attention of Local Government Minister Justine Nameere, who publicly expressed willingness to support the TikToker following her job loss.

Reports later indicated that Nameere provided financial assistance to Nakabugo.

The support, however, subsequently became the subject of a separate public disagreement, with details surrounding the financial assistance attracting attention online.

Nakabugo later returned the money she had received from Nameere, saying she wanted to avoid further misunderstanding between them.

Who Is Benitah Nakabugo?

Nakabugo is a Ugandan social media personality with a significant following on TikTok.

She is known for sharing entertainment, commentary and opinion-based content, which has helped her build a substantial online audience.

Her recent experience has placed her at the centre of discussions about the risks social media personalities may face when their online comments intersect with politics, employment and public campaigns.

Social Media Pressure Sparks Debate

The controversy surrounding Nakabugo has renewed questions about the influence of social media in people’s personal and professional lives.

For Ugandans working abroad, online disputes can potentially extend beyond social media and affect relationships with employers, colleagues and communities in their host countries.

The case has also highlighted the importance of understanding the potential consequences of public political commentary, particularly when content reaches audiences beyond the intended social media platform.

As Nakabugo settles back in Uganda, attention is likely to remain on her next move and whether she will continue her social media activities following the controversy in Bahrain.
