Jayden’s Body Arrives in Uganda, Funeral Programme Released

The body of Ugandan TikToker Timothy Kayanja, popularly known as Jayden, has arrived back in Uganda from India, a week after his death following a long battle with sickle cell disease and aplastic anaemia.

Jayden’s remains arrived at Entebbe International Airport at about 2pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, where family members, friends and mourners gathered to receive him.

The arrival was marked by emotional scenes as the casket was handed over for the journey to Kampala.

A Plus Funeral Management took charge of the body, with a team from TMR International Hospital also present. The hospital had been involved in Jayden’s treatment and his medical journey to India for specialised care.

The body was later transported from Entebbe to Nakulabye, where mourners were expected to gather on Tuesday evening.

Jayden’s final journey

Jayden travelled to India after his health deteriorated following years of living with sickle cell disease. He later developed aplastic anaemia, a serious condition in which the bone marrow does not produce enough blood cells.

His medical condition prompted a major fundraising campaign involving friends, fellow content creators and well-wishers, who helped raise money for his specialised treatment in India.

In July, Jayden underwent a bone marrow transplant, which was initially reported to have been successful. However, his health later deteriorated and he was admitted to intensive care before his death.

His death sparked an outpouring of grief among his family, friends, fellow TikTokers and followers who had closely followed his medical journey.

Tuesday, September 22

A vigil will be held at St Kizito Catholic Church in Namungoona, where mourners will gather to pay their respects.

Wednesday, September 23

A requiem Mass will be held at St Kizito Catholic Church at 10am.

After the Mass, Jayden’s body will be transported to Sala Village in Wakiso District, where another vigil will be held on Wednesday evening.

Thursday, September 24

A second requiem Mass will be held at Sala Village at 10am.

Jayden will then be laid to rest at his ancestral burial grounds in Sala Village at 4pm.

Jayden’s legacy

Jayden became popular through his humorous and relatable content on TikTok, building a sizeable following in Uganda.

His battle with illness later brought his personal story into the public spotlight, as Ugandans rallied behind him through fundraising efforts aimed at securing specialised treatment.

With his remains now back home, family, friends and followers are preparing to give the popular content creator his final send-off.

Jayden will be buried on Thursday, September 24, at 4pm in Sala Village, Wakiso District.
