BREAKING: Fresh Twist in Tooro Succession as Claim of Prince Jacob Oyo’s Uganda Return Emerges

FORT PORTAL, Uganda — A fresh twist has emerged in the Tooro Kingdom succession dispute after a statement circulating online claimed that Prince Jacksonville Jacob Oyo, reportedly the son of the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, will return to Uganda next week.

The purported announcement claims that Prince Jacob will travel from the United States and be presented at Karuziika Palace on Wednesday, September 23, in an event that could add a new dimension to the ongoing succession dispute.

However, the announcement has not been independently authenticated.

The statement was circulated under the name of Prince Yoweri Komwiswa, but checks reported by Pearl Times could not establish that the social-media account from which it originated was an authentic account belonging to Komwiswa. The account has since been suspended.

As a result, the reported September 23 palace presentation should be treated as unconfirmed until an official statement is issued by the relevant Tooro royal authorities.

New Pressure on the Tooro Succession

The development comes just days before the planned coronation of Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, who was selected as successor to the late King Oyo by a 21-member Babiito royal clan committee.

Kijanangoma’s coronation is scheduled for September 29, 2026.

The emergence of the claim about Prince Jacob has therefore injected fresh uncertainty into an already closely watched succession process.

King Oyo died on August 27, 2026, aged 34, after receiving treatment in the United States.

However, the viral announcement alone does not establish the child’s parentage, his legal status or his position under Tooro customary succession rules.

The Babiito royal clan has already selected Kijanangoma, while members of the late king’s family have raised questions about the succession and pointed to a reported 2022 will said to contain provisions concerning Oyo’s biological son.

If Prince Jacob is formally presented and his identity and parentage are subsequently recognized by the relevant authorities, questions could arise about how his status fits into the succession process already underway.
