Bebe Cool’s Former Bodyguard Abbas Kabyobyo Recounts Being Shot Six Times and Recovery After Prophet Kakande’s Prayers
Abbas Kabyobyo, a former bodyguard of Ugandan musician Bebe Cool, has recounted his painful journey after being shot six times, undergoing treatment at Nsambya Hospital and later seeking prayers from renowned Ugandan preacher Prophet Samuel Kakande in 2012.
Speaking during a testimony at Kakande’s church, Kabyobyo described the severity of his injuries, the difficulties he experienced during recovery and what he believes was a remarkable improvement in his condition following prayers.
His account highlights a difficult period in his life when he said he struggled to perform basic daily activities and depended heavily on his family for care.
Abbas Kabyobyo Reveals How He Was Shot Six Times
During his testimony, Kabyobyo explained that he sustained six gunshot wounds affecting different parts of his body.
“My name is Abbas Kabyobyo, Bebe Cool’s bodyguard. I was shot six bullets. Two bullets in my left leg, two in my right hand and the remaining two in my right abdomen. I went to Nsambya Hospital and the doctors treated me,” he said.
According to Kabyobyo, the injuries were severe, with fractures that complicated his recovery and raised concerns about whether he would regain his previous physical abilities.
He recalled that Dr Okello, whom he identified as the head of Nsambya Hospital at the time, reportedly told his caretakers that his chances of recovery were approximately 50 per cent because of the extent of the fractures.
These medical details form part of Kabyobyo’s personal account and have not been independently verified.
Former Bebe Cool Bodyguard Describes His Difficult Recovery
Kabyobyo said he spent approximately one month receiving treatment at Nsambya Hospital before being discharged.
However, he explained that leaving the hospital did not mean he had recovered. He remained physically weak and struggled to carry out even the simplest daily tasks without assistance.
“I couldn’t do anything and whenever I felt like easing myself, I would do it right on my bed. It was always my pregnant wife to clean up the mess,” he recalled.
His condition reportedly placed a significant burden on his family, particularly his pregnant wife, who helped care for him during the challenging period.
Kabyobyo also acknowledged the support he received from friends and loved ones as he navigated the physical and emotional difficulties associated with his injuries.
How Abbas Kabyobyo Ended Up at Prophet Kakande’s Church
Kabyobyo said his journey to Prophet Samuel Kakande’s church began when a man visited him and suggested that he seek prayers from the preacher.
Initially, he was reluctant to accept the offer because he had lost hope of recovering fully from his injuries.
However, after reconsidering the suggestion a few days later, he decided to visit the church, hoping for a change in his condition.
According to his testimony, he arrived at the church premises using two crutches because he was still struggling to walk independently.
Kabyobyo claimed that after Kakande prayed for him, he put aside the crutches and began walking without assistance.
His account of the experience has been presented as a personal testimony of faith. The extent of his recovery and its relationship to the prayers were not independently established in the information provided.
Kabyobyo Claims He Returned to Kickboxing After Prayers
Beyond regaining the ability to walk independently, Kabyobyo said he eventually returned to kickboxing, a sport that requires considerable physical strength, balance and mobility.
He claimed that doctors had previously told him he would never return to the sport because of the severity of his injuries.
However, he said his condition improved to the point where he could resume training and participate in activities he had feared were permanently beyond his reach.
“Since that time to present, I walk on my own, do my training properly and I am doing everything I couldn’t do before,” he said.
Reflecting on his return to the sport, Kabyobyo added: “After the prayers by the man of God Prophet Samuel Kakande, I went back to kickboxing and I am absolutely enjoying it.”
He expressed gratitude to Kakande for praying for him and also recognised the role his wife and friends played in supporting him throughout his recovery.
A Personal Testimony of Faith and Recovery
Kabyobyo’s story brings together themes of physical suffering, family support, faith and the determination to regain independence after a serious injury.
For him, the experience of being shot six times and struggling through recovery remains a significant chapter in his life. He attributes his subsequent improvement and return to kickboxing to the prayers he received from Prophet Samuel Kakande.
However, his testimony reflects his personal understanding of what happened. The reported medical assessment, details of his injuries and the extent of his recovery have not been independently verified, and the account alone does not establish that prayer caused the improvement.
His story nevertheless offers insight into how faith and support from loved ones can shape a person’s experience during a difficult period of recovery.
