Fresh revelations about a bungalow recently purchased by Tadeo Ssekadde, the late founder and director of King David Junior School, have added a new dimension to the heartbreaking story of the fatal Kapchorwa school bus accident that claimed his life.
Ssekadde had reportedly acquired the property in Ndejje just months before the July 16, 2026, accident that killed 24 people, including pupils and school staff members. After spending considerable money renovating the house, he moved in, hoping to enjoy a fresh beginning. His previous residence was reportedly converted into rental apartments.
However, accounts surrounding the property’s previous ownership have attracted public attention, with reports suggesting that several unfortunate incidents occurred before Ssekadde purchased the bungalow.
Bungalow Reportedly Changed Hands After Financial Difficulties
According to accounts emerging from the area, the bungalow’s first owner reportedly sold the property after experiencing financial difficulties and struggling to clear a bank loan.
The house was subsequently purchased by Hajji Ahmed Nsamba, who reportedly intended it to be a home for his wife.
However, tragedy allegedly struck when Nsamba’s wife died unexpectedly inside the property, despite reportedly showing no signs of illness beforehand.
The incident is said to have deeply affected the family, prompting Nsamba to put the bungalow on the market through property agents.
It was during this period that Ssekadde reportedly discovered the property and became interested in purchasing it because of its relatively affordable asking price.
How Tadeo Ssekadde Acquired the Ndejje Property
Unlike a buyer rushing to complete a property transaction, Ssekadde reportedly took time to establish the bungalow’s background.
He is said to have consulted local leaders and residents to learn more about the property’s history before entering direct negotiations with its owner.
After the discussions, the two parties reportedly reached an agreement on the purchase price.
There are also claims that the amount agreed upon privately differed from the higher figure allegedly recorded in the official sale documents. The arrangement was reportedly intended to give Ssekadde an advantage in the event that he decided to sell the property in the future.
However, the details of the alleged arrangement have not been independently verified.
Another Reported Death During Renovations
The bungalow’s history has attracted even more attention following claims that another person died under unexplained circumstances while renovation work was still underway.
These accounts have contributed to speculation among some members of the public about the property’s past.
Nevertheless, there is no verified evidence establishing a connection between the reported deaths and the bungalow itself. Neither has it been established that the incidents were linked to one another.
For now, the claims remain unverified accounts rather than established facts.
Tadeo Ssekadde Dies in Devastating Kapchorwa School Bus Accident
While the bungalow was reportedly intended to mark a new beginning for Ssekadde, he would spend only about three months living there before his life was cut short.
On July 16, 2026, the King David Junior School director was accompanying pupils and fellow staff members on a school trip to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa District.
The group was travelling back towards Kampala when the school’s Isuzu bus reportedly lost control at Chekwatit village at approximately 8:00 p.m.
The vehicle crashed into a roadside rock before overturning, triggering one of Uganda’s most devastating school transport tragedies in recent years.
Reports indicate that 21 people died at the scene or shortly after reaching hospital, while three additional victims later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the reported death toll to 24.
Ssekadde was reportedly the only adult killed in the crash, while several pupils and other school staff members survived with serious injuries.
The injured victims were rushed to Kapchorwa Hospital and Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Mechanical Problems Reportedly Experienced Before the Crash
Questions have also emerged about the condition of the school bus before the fatal accident.
Subsequent reports indicated that the vehicle had experienced mechanical problems twice earlier during the journey.
The revelations raised concerns about why the trip continued despite the reported mechanical difficulties and whether additional safety precautions could have prevented the tragedy.
The circumstances surrounding the accident have since prompted renewed discussions about school transport safety, vehicle inspections and the responsibility of schools to ensure that buses carrying children are roadworthy.
A Tragic Story That Continues to Raise Questions
The death of Tadeo Ssekadde left the King David Junior School community mourning the loss of its founder and director.
His story has since become intertwined with two deeply distressing narratives: the fatal school bus accident in Kapchorwa and the reported history of the Ndejje bungalow he had recently purchased.
Although accounts about the property have fuelled speculation, there is no established evidence suggesting that its previous incidents had any connection to Ssekadde’s death.
His life was ultimately cut short in a road accident that claimed numerous lives and left families across Uganda grieving.
As questions surrounding the Kapchorwa crash and the reported history of the Ndejje property continue to attract attention, the tragedy remains a painful reminder of the lives lost and the importance of road safety, particularly when children are involved.
