Police Reconstruct Fatal Attack on Afrigo Band Legend Moses Matovu in Kampala

KAMPALA, Uganda — Police detectives have conducted a detailed crime scene reconstruction into the fatal attack on legendary Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu, as investigations into the death of the celebrated Ugandan music icon continue under tight security.

The reconstruction exercise brought together key investigators and the two suspects in the case, Vincent Arnold Nsamba, alias Sitenda, and Rose Tusiime, who reportedly guided detectives through the events leading up to the musician’s death.

The exercise is part of police efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation and prepare evidence for possible prosecution.

Suspects Recount Events Leading to Moses Matovu’s Death

The reconstruction was led by KMP CID Commander Milton Birungi Beigumamu, Kabalagala Division Commander Akongo Francis, and CID Kampala South Regional Commander Arthur Twiinamatsiko.

During the exercise, the two suspects reportedly narrated their accounts of the night, beginning with their presence at a local bar before describing the movements and confrontation that allegedly resulted in Matovu’s death.

According to police sources, Nsamba and Tusiime separately guided detectives through their versions of events, identifying specific locations and explaining the sequence of activities that investigators are seeking to verify.

Detectives also asked the suspects to demonstrate certain actions and point out locations believed to be relevant to the investigation.

The exercise is intended to establish whether the suspects’ accounts are consistent with statements previously recorded by police and other evidence collected during the investigation.

Heavy Security as Police Conduct Crime Reconstruction

The reconstruction was conducted under tight security, with heavily armed police officers deployed to cordon off the relevant locations.

Security personnel controlled crowds and restricted access to ensure the safety of the suspects, investigators and members of the public who gathered to follow the exercise.

The investigation has attracted considerable public attention following the death of Matovu, one of Uganda’s most respected musicians and a long-serving figure in the country’s entertainment industry.

A senior detective involved in the investigation reportedly explained that the reconstruction helps police compare the suspects’ accounts with the evidence already gathered.

The investigation remains active, with detectives pursuing additional leads, including forensic analysis and statements from other witnesses who were reportedly present on the night of the incident.
