TOP STORY: Nandala Mafabi Vows to Revive Cooperatives, Raise Teachers’ Pay

Pallisa, Uganda – The Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate, Mr. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has pledged to revive Uganda’s cooperative societies and increase teachers’ salaries if elected in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing supporters during a campaign rally in Pallisa District, Mafabi said the collapse of cooperative unions had severely impacted farmers and rural communities, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation and poverty.

“Reviving cooperatives is not a favour; it is a necessity. Farmers need fair markets, better prices, and access to credit. This government killed cooperatives—we will bring them back,” Mafabi declared to a cheering crowd.

In addition to economic reforms, Mafabi promised a comprehensive overhaul of the education sector, beginning with better pay and working conditions for teachers.

“A teacher shaping the future of our country should not live in poverty. We will ensure that teachers are paid well and on time,” he added.

Mafabi’s message resonated strongly with residents, many of whom are farmers and parents struggling with the rising cost of living and declining public services.

The FDC candidate also criticized the ruling government for what he described as decades of mismanagement and corruption, urging Ugandans to vote for change and “restore dignity” to public institutions.

As election season intensifies, Mafabi’s campaign is gaining traction, particularly in rural areas where frustration with the status quo continues to grow.
