Tooro Kingdom confirms critical condition

Tooro Kingdom has announced that His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV is currently in critical condition, ending hours of uncertainty following widespread speculation on social media regarding his health. In an official communication addressed to the Abatooro and the general public, the Kingdom confirmed that the Omukama is facing a serious medical condition but did not disclose the nature of the illness or provide details about his treatment. “This is to inform you that His Majesty King Oyo is currently in a critical condition,” the Kingdom said in its official statement. The announcement urged the people of Tooro, Ugandans and well-wishers around the world to stand together in prayer during what it described as a difficult and deeply concerning moment for the Royal Family and the Kingdom.
Kingdom appeals for prayers and calm

According to the official statement, Tooro Kingdom appealed to members of the public to remain calm and refrain from circulating speculation or unverified information concerning King Oyo’s health. The Kingdom acknowledged that reports about the monarch had naturally created anxiety among the Abatooro and many Ugandans, but emphasized the importance of restraint, respect and reliance on official communication channels. “We humbly ask the people of Tooro, our friends and well-wishers in Uganda and across the world to keep His Majesty in their thoughts and prayers,” the statement said. Death rumours dismissed as unconfirmed

The official announcement followed numerous unconfirmed reports circulating on social media claiming that King Oyo had died while receiving treatment abroad. Those reports triggered concern and emotional reactions across Uganda, particularly within the Tooro Kingdom. However, Tooro Kingdom did not confirm the death claims. Instead, it clarified that the monarch is in critical condition and urged the public to avoid sharing rumours that have not been verified by the Kingdom or the Royal Family.
Minister Balaam confirms King Oyo is alive and under medical management
Separately, Minister of Local Government Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi also addressed the growing speculation, confirming that King Oyo is alive but remains unwell. The minister said the Tooro monarch is receiving medical management in the United States and appealed to Ugandans and people of goodwill to pray for his healing and for the medical professionals attending to him. His statement reinforced the Kingdom’s official position that King Oyo is alive and receiving treatment, while dismissing the unverified reports of his death that had spread online.
