7-Year-Old Boy Saves 1-Year-Old Brother After Finding Him Unresponsive in Swimming Pool

7-Year-Old Texas Boy Saves 1-Year-Old Brother from Drowning in Residential Pool

BURLESON, Texas — A 7-year-old Texas boy is being celebrated as a hero after his quick thinking and bravery helped save his 1-year-old brother from drowning in a residential swimming pool.

The incident occurred on June 21 in Burleson, Texas, when deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a toddler who had been found unresponsive in a backyard pool.

Young Brother Acts Quickly

According to investigators, the toddler, identified as Liam, was discovered in the water by his older brother, Patrick, before emergency responders arrived.

Without hesitation, Patrick pulled the 1-year-old from the pool, alerted his mother about the emergency, and then ran to a nearby home to seek additional help from a neighbor.

His swift actions are credited with helping save his younger brother’s life.

Toddler Expected to Make Full Recovery

When deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived at the residence, they immediately began administering lifesaving treatment to Liam.

The toddler was stabilized at the scene before being airlifted to Cook Children’s Medical Center for further treatment.

Authorities said Liam is expected to make a full recovery.

Sheriff’s Office Praises Heroic Actions

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office commended Patrick for remaining calm and acting decisively during an extremely stressful situation.

Lieutenant Keven George said the young boy displayed remarkable courage and maturity.

“In moments of crisis, even adults can freeze under pressure. Patrick did the opposite. He remained focused, acted with urgency, and demonstrated a level of courage, awareness, and determination far beyond his years,” George said.

Recognition for Bravery

In recognition of his actions, deputies have nominated Patrick for a Sheriff’s Commendation Award.

If approved, the award will be presented during an upcoming sheriff’s office meeting, where Patrick will receive a commendation pin and formal recognition for his heroism.

“Our entire Sheriff’s Office family is incredibly proud of Patrick,” the agency said in a statement.

“His selflessness, courage, and love for his little brother serve as a powerful reminder that heroes come in all ages and sizes.”

Water Safety Reminder

The incident has also prompted renewed calls for parents and caregivers to remain vigilant around swimming pools, particularly where young children are present.

Safety experts advise that children should always be supervised near water, pools should be secured with protective barriers, and families should learn basic CPR and emergency response techniques to reduce the risk of drowning.
