Joshua Baraka: Why Ugandan Artists Can Compete Globally

Music

Renowned singer and performing star Joshua Baraka has expressed optimism about Ugandan artists being able to compete globally.

In a bold yet thoughtful take, he challenged that narrative, which states that Ugandan artists lack the creativity and art to dominate the global market.

He reasoned that we have real talent, but the primary challenge many artists face is how to market and package their sound to make it inclusive in other regions.

“I don’t think that our artists lack the creativity and art to dominate the international market. We have artists who do real and good music. But it’s all about fitting your sound in there. First of all, it is a market thing, and then how one packages their sound. Most of our music is good, but not inclusive,” Joshua Baraka
