Top Story: Four Dead, 20 Injured in Tragic Road Accident in Mubende
Mubende, Uganda – September 5, 2025
Police in Mubende District have launched an investigation into a deadly road accident that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, leaving four people dead and 20 others injured.
The tragic incident took place at around 4:30 a.m. at Nabutiti–Kisujja along the Kyegegwa–Mubende road. The vehicle involved, a white Isuzu Elf truck with registration number UBF 636F, was transporting approximately 35 passengers who were en route to a burial ceremony in Kassanda.
According to Wamala Region police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and overturned, resulting in the fatalities and multiple injuries.

- Arnold Maniriho, 43
- Sekubulye Richard, 36
- Tumuranze Enid, 40
- Kobusingye Edvina, 23
All four victims were residents of Kangoma ‘A’, Rushango Town Council, Ibanda District.

- Mukamohere Kellen
- Karire Jackline
- Mufuruko Edison
- Twiine Innocent
- Kwendera John
- Tumwikirize Scovia
- Tugume Medard
- Busingye Medius

SP Kawala confirmed that the injured were rushed to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for emergency treatment. The bodies of the deceased were also taken to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
“Efforts are underway to arrest the driver, who is suspected of careless driving. The vehicle has been towed to Mubende Police Station for inspection,” SP Kawala stated.
The police continue to urge motorists to exercise caution and adhere to road safety regulations, especially when transporting large groups over long distances.
