New Details Emerge in Fatal Stabbing of Popular Mbale City MC by Girlfriend
Mbale, September 10, 2025 – Shocking new details have emerged following the fatal stabbing of a popular Master of Ceremonies (MC) in Mbale City by a woman believed to be his girlfriend. The incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
According to Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, SP Rogers Taitika, the deceased has been identified as Wanambwa Jonathan, also known by his stage name MC Gavin, a well-known music MC at Oak Bar, located in Namakwekwe, Northern City Division.
Taitika revealed in a statement released on Wednesday that Wanambwa was stabbed at around 9:00 PM by a woman identified only as Namono, at his rented residence in Muyembe Cell, Maluku Ward, Industrial Division, Mbale City.
How the Tragedy Unfolded
According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred shortly after another of Wanambwa’s girlfriends, Hellya Sonia, arrived at his home. Wanambwa had reportedly invited Sonia over earlier in the evening.
Upon entering the house, Sonia was shocked to find another woman—later identified as Namono—seated on the bed. A confrontation quickly ensued between Wanambwa and Namono after the two women came face to face.
SP Taitika stated that the deceased attempted to de-escalate the situation by asking Namono to leave the premises. However, the situation turned violent.
In her eyewitness account, Sonia told police that during the scuffle, Namono pulled out a sharp object and allegedly stabbed Wanambwa in the back.
The victim raised an alarm, which drew the attention of nearby residents. Neighbours, responding quickly, found Wanambwa lying in a pool of blood outside the house and managed to apprehend Namono at the scene.
A boda boda rider, along with concerned locals, rushed the victim to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Suspect in Custody
Police have confirmed that the suspect, Namono, is currently being held at Mbale Central Police Station as investigations continue.
Authorities have yet to disclose the motive behind the attack, although early reports suggest jealousy may have played a role in the fatal altercation.
