Gen. Nalweyiso Adds Voice to Growing Support for Bobi Wine’s Return to Stage

News

Lt. Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso is a senior Ugandan military officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has revealed her admiration for Bobi Wine’s music skills.

In an interview with Radio 4’s Adam Kungu, Lt. Gen. Nalweyiso commented on how artists should be free to perform at President Museveni’s events without fear.

She noted that they are invited to perform for the crowds at NRM events to entertain them, and Bobi Wine, despite his political affiliations, should also feel welcome.

“Bobi Wine is not barred from performing at President Museveni’s events. He is permitted to because he, too, is an artist,” she told Radio 4.

She further revealed that the 2026 NUP Presidential Candidate is a good singer and her favourite artist.

I have no idea why he is not invited to these events, if that is the case, because he is a good singer. He is my favourite artist.

She denied knowledge of the reported ban against Bobi Wine performing in Uganda and pledged to inquire more about the circumstances around the supposed ban.

I will try to find out why he is barred from holding a concert of his own and performing. There must be a reason. Is it that he holds concerts in the wrong venues? But if he held a microphone and sang at his rally, would they really arrest him?
