3 year old poisoned to death on his way back to school

Kenyan Toddler Dies After Collapsing at Home, Family Raises Poisoning Suspicions

KISII, KENYA — The family of young Dalton Momanyi is demanding answers after the toddler died shortly after returning home from school, with his mother alleging that he may have been poisoned.

Dalton’s death has left his mother, Hyline Mokeira, devastated. She described her son as the light of her life and a source of hope following years of personal and financial hardship.

According to Hyline, Dalton left school appearing healthy and showed no signs that anything was wrong.

However, shortly after arriving at the family compound, the child reportedly became extremely weak, collapsed at the doorstep and lost consciousness.

“He came home looking very weak. He just collapsed at the doorstep,” the grieving mother recalled.

Toddler dies shortly after arriving home

Family members immediately rushed Dalton to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save his life.

Despite efforts by medical personnel, the child was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the facility.

Hyline said the family’s concerns intensified following a post-mortem examination which, according to her account, indicated that the child had allegedly been poisoned.

The claim has raised questions about what may have happened to Dalton while he was travelling from school to his home.

Authorities have yet to establish publicly how the child may have been exposed to any substance or whether a criminal act occurred.

Mother speaks about years of hardship

Dalton’s death has been particularly painful for Hyline because of the role the young boy played in her life.

She said she was forced to return to her parents’ home while five months pregnant after her husband allegedly disappeared, leaving her with debts estimated at approximately KSh350,000.

Unable to continue operating her business while dealing with the financial burden, Hyline returned to her ancestral home and later gave birth to Dalton.

She described the boy as a source of happiness and strength during one of the most difficult periods of her life.

His sudden death has now left the family struggling to cope with another devastating loss.

Family points to land dispute

Hyline has also raised concerns about a long-running land dispute involving her family and a neighbour.

According to the grieving mother, the disagreement has contributed to tensions within the area for some time.

She suspects the dispute could be connected to her son’s death, but acknowledged that only a comprehensive investigation can establish whether there is any link.

No individual has been publicly established as responsible for Dalton’s death, and the family’s suspicions remain subject to investigation.

Residents demand investigation

Residents of Sensi have expressed shock over the toddler’s death and called for a swift and transparent investigation.

Community members want authorities to establish what happened to Dalton between the time he left school and when he arrived home, and to determine whether anyone was responsible for his death.

Detectives are expected to gather witness statements and examine available evidence as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

For Hyline and her family, the questions surrounding Dalton’s final journey home have made an already painful loss even more difficult.

The family is now waiting for investigators to establish the circumstances that led to the death of the young boy and determine whether the poisoning allegation is supported by evidence.
