Judge Gives Final Adjournment in Besigye Treason Case, Hearing Set for October 5

KAMPALA, UGANDA — The High Court in Kampala has granted what Justice Emmanuel Baguma described as the final adjournment in the treason case involving opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye and his co-accused.

The case has been adjourned to October 5, 2026, after the prosecution team was not available when the matter came up for hearing on Wednesday, September 23.

According to reports from court, defence lawyer Farouk Kizito Kamulegeya informed Justice Baguma that the parties had previously agreed to return to court at 11am. However, the state prosecutors were reportedly handling another matter within the court premises.

Justice Baguma expressed frustration over the delay and warned that the next hearing would be the last adjournment granted in the case.
