“Masaka Election: Lawyers Seek Review of Vote Recount Declaring Nameere Winner”

JUST IN: Lawyers Demand Review of Masaka Vote Recount That Declared Nameere Winner

Lawyers have called for an urgent review of a controversial vote recount in the Masaka City Woman Member of Parliament race that overturned the Electoral Commission’s earlier results and declared NRM’s Justine Nameere the winner.

The recount was ordered by Masaka Chief Magistrate Albert Asiimwe following an election petition filed by Nameere against NUP’s Rose Nalubowa, who had initially been declared the winner.

Legal experts argue the recount violated electoral laws, citing irregularities including broken ballot seals, empty ballot boxes and disputed handling of invalid votes. They warn the decision could set a dangerous legal precedent if left unchallenged.

Lawyers representing Nalubowa are now seeking High Court intervention to review the recount process and the magistrate’s ruling.
