Police Arrest 12 Senior One Students Over Assault of Teenager in Kampala
Police in Kampala have arrested 12 Senior One students aged between 14 and 17 following the circulation of a social media video showing the assault of a teenage boy in Makindye Division.
The suspects were arrested in connection with an incident that reportedly occurred on September 13, 2026, in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala.
According to the Uganda Police Force, the arrests followed the circulation of a video showing a group of boys assaulting another teenager. The footage sparked public concern and prompted police investigations.
12 Senior One Students Arrested
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said the suspects include the teenager seen in the video assaulting the victim.
Police said the prime suspect is 16 years old, while the other suspects are also minors aged between 14 and 17 years.
The suspects were apprehended on September 17 and 18 during an intelligence-led operation in Nakibinge Zone.
The final arrests were reportedly made at around 2am on September 18, bringing the total number of suspects in police custody to 12.
Teenager Receiving Medical Treatment
The victim, who is also approximately 16 years old, is currently staying at his mother’s residence in the area while receiving medical treatment.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the individual roles of each suspect.
The Uganda Police Force said the suspects remain in custody as detectives continue with the investigation.
Police Warn Against Violence Among Minors
Police have condemned the incident, particularly because it involved minors.
SP Kawala said authorities remain committed to protecting the safety and dignity of all people and will take action against anyone found to have engaged in unlawful conduct.
Because the suspects are minors, police said any further action will follow the applicable procedures governing juvenile offenders.
Police are expected to provide further updates as investigations into the Kampala teenage assault continue.
