BUIKWE: Mechanic Knocks Pedestrian Dead Along Jinja-Kampala Highway in Motor Accident

Njeru Traffic Police has embarked on investigations into a fatal accident which occurred this morning the 29/07/25 at around 06.30 am.

The accident happened at Friends corner-Mbiko along Jinja-Kampala Highway in Buikwe District involving motor vehicle Reg. No UAH 907J Toyota corona driven by one Sserunjogi Andrew aged 31 yrs old, a Mechanic.

According to Ssezibwa region Police spokesperson, Hellen Butoto Sserunjogi who was coming from the direction of Jinja heading towards Kampala knocked a pedestrian who was crossing the road at Friends corner-Mbiiko.

The victim, one Joseph Kawesa, was rushed to Jinja referral hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

By the time of filing this story, the motor vehicle had been parked at Njeru police station yard pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles and the driver is in police custody as inquiries are underway.
