Why Master Parrot Left Firebase Crew for Leone Island: Late Singer Revealed the Story Behind His Exit

The late Ugandan musician Master Parrot once shared the personal experience that led him to leave the Firebase Crew and join the rival Leone Island camp, a decision that significantly shaped his music career.

In a past interview, Master Parrot revealed that his departure from the Firebase Crew followed an incident involving fellow artists Bobi Wine and Bucha Man after a performance.

According to the singer, he and fellow artist Jajja Nana had been scheduled to travel to Mityana for another show after completing a performance. However, they were allegedly left behind as Bobi Wine and Bucha Man departed in a Land Cruiser.

Master Parrot recalled that despite a heavy downpour, Jajja Nana encouraged him to board a boda-boda and chase after the vehicle carrying the two artists.

“When we got closer, Bobi Wine stopped and acted like they had forgotten us,” Master Parrot said during the interview. “He asked Bucha Man whether they should take us along, but Bucha Man declined.”

The singer explained that he and Jajja Nana eventually returned to the Firebase headquarters, but the incident left him feeling disappointed and convinced him that it was time to move on.

“What forced me to quit Firebase Crew is when Bobi Wine and Bucha Man left me and Jajja Nana behind after a show heading to Mityana for another performance,” he stated.

Shortly after the incident, Master Parrot joined the Leone Island camp, which was then one of Firebase Crew’s biggest rivals in Uganda’s music industry.

The late singer credited Leone Island with helping him advance his career. He revealed that the camp’s leadership supported his music production efforts and created opportunities for him to perform beyond Uganda’s borders.

Through Leone Island, Master Parrot secured performance opportunities in neighboring countries including Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania, helping him expand his audience and strengthen his presence in the East African music scene.

His move from Firebase Crew to Leone Island remains one of the notable artist transitions in Uganda’s music industry, highlighting the challenges and opportunities that often shape musicians’ careers.
