Namisindwa Parents Seek Urgent Support for Son Burnt by Unknown Assailants

Namisindwa Family Appeals for Help to Save Son Burnt by Unknown Assailants

NAMISINDWA, UGANDA – A family in Namisindwa District is appealing to the public for financial assistance to help their son receive specialized medical treatment after he was brutally attacked and set on fire by unknown assailants.

Michael Mamayi, 21, a resident of Busambatsa I Parish in Buwabwala Sub-county, sustained severe burn injuries during the attack, which occurred in May this year. His family says they urgently need more than Shs2 million to facilitate his treatment at a specialized health facility.

According to family members, Mamayi was returning home at around 9 p.m. from a local drinking joint when unidentified attackers allegedly poured petrol on him and set him ablaze. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.

Following the incident, Mamayi reported the matter to Buwabwala Police Post. However, no arrests have been made because he was alone at the time of the attack and could not identify those responsible.

The victim was initially admitted to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, where he received emergency treatment. However, his medical care was interrupted due to financial constraints, with doctors reportedly discharging him after the family failed to meet the costs of medication and other treatment requirements.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Patrick Bwobi, Mamayi’s father, said they are struggling to raise the funds needed to secure specialized medical attention for his son.

“We are pleading with well-wishers to come forward and support us to save Michael’s life before it is too late,” Bwobi said.

The family remains hopeful that support from members of the public, charitable organizations, and other well-wishers will enable Mamayi to access the treatment necessary for his recovery.

The incident has raised concerns among residents in Namisindwa, who are calling for thorough investigations to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.
