WAKISO, UGANDA — Police in Wakiso District have arrested a 39-year-old boda boda rider following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media allegedly showing the defilement of an 8-year-old girl.
The suspect, identified as Ssebagala Moses, a resident of Mabombwe village in Mabombwe Parish, Mende Sub-county, was taken into custody after authorities tracked him down in connection with the incident.
According to a statement released on Saturday, April 18, 2026, by Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala, the arrest followed widespread public concern after the footage surfaced online.
“Following a video circulating on social media showing a man allegedly defiling a female juvenile, Police in Wakiso have arrested the suspect seen in the footage. He is being held in connection with the aggravated defilement of an 8-year-old girl,” Kawala said.
Incident Details
Police say the incident occurred on April 16, 2026, in Mabombwe village. Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was outside with her younger sibling when the suspect approached them.
He allegedly handed the children a mobile phone to watch cartoons before placing the victim on his lap, where the suspected abuse occurred.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect remains in custody and is expected to be produced in court as investigations continue.
